Vitamin E is for long-term wellness

Vitamin E: Natural or synthetic?

Sometimes, there aren’t major differences between natural or synthetic vitamins, but with vitamin E, natural is better. To over-simplify, natural vitamin E has one “building block,” but synthetic has eight. The way the vitamin is built determines how our body is going to use it, and in various studies (4), the body seems to use natural vitamin E better than synthetic.

Vitamin E has important antioxidant properties that help protect cells involved in many different systems in your body (1). We can get vitamin E in our diet from vegetable oils, sunflower seeds and almonds, and other common foods. Our body doesn’t make vitamin E, but it is good at processing and storing it from the foods we eat.

We include vitamin E in our supplement because it fits with the overall strategy of Future Proof for long-term wellness and the vitamin’s benefits for the immune system.

On-going protection for your body’s cells

Vitamin E has been shown to play a role in the on-going care and protection of the body’s cells. Through normal processes in your body, cellular waste material is produced. This waste material, called free radicals, can actually damage healthy cells. Kind of like rust building up on one of your car’s fenders. Antioxidants, like vitamin E, bond with free radicals, reducing the harm they do to healthy cells.

Beneficial role in aging

Free radicals may contribute to heart disease and cancer (2). Research also suggests free radicals can play a significant role in aging (3). Unchecked free radicals cause stress on our cells, which is a factor in aging them. Since antioxidants, like vitamin E, help reduce damage from free radicals, this could help slow one of the major contributing factors of aging in our cells.

175% of the daily dose

The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of vitamin E for adults is 15 milligrams (mg). We include 26.2 mg in Future Proof, which is 175 percent of your daily value.

Taking vitamin E in supplement form may interfere with certain medications. Too much vitamin E may cause stomach issues, fatigue, or increase your risk for bruising or bleeding.

Disclaimer: It’s always a good idea to talk to your doctor before you take any type of supplement. And if you experience any negative side effects when you are taking one, contact a healthcare expert immediately.

Conclusion

Vitamin E may help individual cells last longer by protecting them from stress and damage caused by waste products generated in our bodies. These types of stress are responsible for signs of aging in our cells and have been linked to problematic diseases. Vitamin E supplements can help your long-term health through its benefits for the immune system.
